"The prophets of the Old Testament foretold that God's Spirit would rest upon the Messiah to sustain his mission.  Their prophecy was fulfilled when Jesus the Messiah was conceived by the Spirit and born of the Virgin Mary.  The Holy Spirit descended on Jesus on the occasion of his baptism by John.  Jesus' entire mission occurred in communion with the Spirit.  Before he died, Jesus promised that the Spirit would be given to the Apostles and to the entire Church.  After his death, he was raised by the Father in the power of the Spirit.

Confirmation deepens our baptismal life that calls us to be missionary witnesses of Jesus Christ in our families, neighborhoods, society, and the world. ...We receive the message of faith in a deeper and more intensive manner with great emphasis given to the person of Jesus Christ, who asked the Father to give the Holy Spirit to the Church for building up the community in loving service."  ~from the United States Catholic Catechism for Adults

Since Confirmation is a Sacrament that MUST be entered into willingly by those wishing to receive it, a solid preparation is usually needed as a guide.  Our parish Confirmation Preparation classes seek to insure our young people have the needed knowledge to make an informed decision about accepting the Sacrament of Confirmation.

The preparation for Confirmation is a two-year process which is mandated by the Diocese.  The Confirmation Preparation classes meet for a total of 6 sessions from October through March.  The sessions will be held on Sunday evenings in the parish hall from 6:00pm-8:00pm.  Families of those to be confirmed are invited and encouraged to attend and take part in our sessions.

Confirmation Preparation Schedule:

 Event Date  Time Location
Rehearsal June 3, 2017 11:00am Church
Confirmation  June 3 & 4, 2017 All Masses St. Elizabeth Ann Seton

Regular attendance of the Confirmation Prep. sessions is strongly encouraged.  If a situation arises where an absence must occur, please contact Michael as soon as possible. Every effort will be made to provide you with materials to make up what is missed in the session.

Because we currently do not have a Bishop assigned to the Diocese, Confirmation will be celebrated by Fr. Jack in our church.  Confirmation will be celebrated at all masses the weekend of June 3/4 2017.

In addition to the regularly scheduled sessions, the Diocesan guidelines for Confirmation also requires participation in a pair of retreats.
