Catholic Charities

Catholic Charities Mission:

As the charitable outreach arm of the Diocese of Raleigh, the mission of Catholic Charities of the Diocese of Raleigh is to respond to the Gospel of Our Lord Jesus by performing corporal works of mercy.

'Corporal works of mercy' include: feeding the hungry, sheltering the homeless, clothing the naked, giving 'harbor' to the vulnerable. Catholic Charities provides direct services to individuals and families, and advocates and collaborates with a range of community partners to ensure vulnerable and isolated families in our communities are cared for, fed, clothed, have adequate shelter and safe harbor, and have hope.

We Need Your Help!

Catholic Charities of the Fayetteville Regional Office is undergoing a structural transformation to provide love and compassion to our communities most in need. Our office enables individuals and families to be productive and effective in their daily lives. Our programs and services work to end food insecurity, help families integrate into their communities, and help families achieve self-sufficiency.

However, our initiative can only be sustained with the help of volunteers; people who are willing and available to dedicate a few hours a week for this cause. We call on your community to come forward and help Catholic Charities transform the lives of those most in need.  Please share this information with your community.

Below is some information of our programs and services in need of volunteers.

Baby Layette Items Needed

We are always in need of supplies for our Baby Layette or Baby Bags we make for expectant mothers. We make about 6 bags a week (3 for baby boys and 3 for baby girls), and usually our supplies run out even before the week ends. We seem to be the only organization that gives out Baby layettes.  They are very appreciated by expectant mothers in the community. You all must also consider that Catholic Charities-Fayetteville Regional Office also covers Harnett, Hoke, Lee, Moore, Robeson and Scotland counties. Please click on the link below for a complete list of needed supplies.  Again, thank you for your generosity and support!

Organization Overview

Catholic Charities of the Diocese of Raleigh, Inc., previously Catholic Social Ministries, began in 1899 as the Catholic Orphanage of North Carolina and has maintained non-profit status since 1983. We serve people of all faiths or no faith tradition. Catholic Charities of the Diocese of Raleigh provides services in the 54 most eastern counties in North Carolina, through eight regional offices.

Our Mission, values, services, and commitment remain constant in serving all people in need. The agency offers five core programs: Emergency Assistance, Economic Self-Sufficiency, Family Health and Safety, Clinical Counseling and Parish and Community Engagement. Other services provided include adoption, disaster preparedness and recovery, immigration assistance and pregnancy services. Catholic Charities also advocates for social and economic justice, as well as addressing immediate needs with emergency resources or direct services.

We strive to be the agency of "first resort" as well as the agency of "last resort" for the poor and marginalized in the community. We work to inform the public so they know that they can come to us as soon as they need help, as well as once they have been turned away from all other agencies.
