Facilities Update

Dear parishioners,

Many of you are aware of the destruction of several HVAC units in the parish office building. Fortunately for us, the units serving the kitchen and offices were not destroyed and have continued to function with minor repairs.

The insurance company informed us on August 14 that they will cover all costs of installing new units. The parish deductible is $1,000, which will be covered by a generous private donation.

This unfortunate event for the parish has brought the issue of parish security to the forefront of our attention.

I had begun to address this issue in staff meetings since the spring. An assessment of the security of our buildings involves checking access keys and alarms. The access keys, have been the same for many years, and the parish office has no idea how many people have them.

We are planning to rekey all buildings in the coming weeks.

The destruction of the HVAC units has led us to explore the possibility of installing security cameras in our parish grounds. We have begun looking into this possibility.

Thank you for your understanding as we resolve this situation.

Sincerely,
Fr. Arturo Cabra
