Holy Week Opportunities

Holy Week begins with Palm Sunday...                          continues with the Chrism Mass...

Then begins the Triduum:

The summit of the Liturgical Year is the Easter Triduum—from the evening of Holy     Thursday to the evening of Easter Sunday. Though chronologically three days, they are   liturgically one day unfolding for us the unity of Christ's Paschal Mystery.
The single celebration of the Triduum marks the end of the Lenten season, and leads to the Mass of the Resurrection of the Lord at the Easter Vigil.

The liturgical services that take place during the Triduum are:

  • Mass of the Lord's Supper
  • Good Friday of the Lord's Passion
  • Mass of the Resurrection of the Lord

Mass of the Lord's Supper (Holy Thursday)
-7:00pm

Holy Thursday begins the Triduum. Mass includes the acceptance of the Blessed oils as well as the washing of the feet.

Following Mass Holy Thursday, the Blessed Sacrament will be in repose until midnight. Please take this opportunity to spend time with our Lord.

St. John Paul II told us: "The Church and the world have a great need of Eucharistic adoration. Jesus waits for us in the Sacrament of love. Let us be generous with our time in going to meet him in adoration and contemplation that is full of faith and ready to make reparation for the great faults and crimes of the world. May our adoration never cease."
Jesus is asking us, as he did his Apostles, "Could you not keep watch with me for one hour?"

Good Friday of the Lord's Passion

Beginning at noon, the church will be open for the opportunity for prayer and reflection.
The Triduum liturgy continues at 3:00pm. The Passion will be proclaimed, we will have adoration of the Cross, and Eucharist will be distributed.
The church will remain open for prayer.
Stations of the Cross begin at 7:00pm.

Good Friday is a day of Fast and Abstinance.
For members of the Latin Catholic Church, the norms on fasting are obligatory from age 18 until age 59. When fasting, a person is permitted to eat one full meal, as well as two smaller meals that together are not equal to a full meal. The norms concerning abstinence from meat are binding upon members of the Latin Catholic Church from age 14 onwards.
If possible, the fast on Good Friday is continued until the Easter Vigil (on Holy Saturday night) as the "paschal fast" to honor the suffering and death of the Lord Jesus and to prepare ourselves to share more fully and to celebrate more readily his Resurrection.

Mass of the Resurrection of the Lord (Easter Vigil-Holy Saturday)- Mass to begin at 8:00pm.
The Mass of the Resurrection of the Lord begins outside at the fire pit, with the lighting of the Easter Fire and blessing of the Paschal Candle. We welcome into the Church the Elect with Baptism, Confirmation and Eucharist.
Please note that there are no confessions Holy Saturday and no 4:00pm Mass.
